Appearance:
~ Slightly curls black hair that is usually braided into at least two dozen
tiny braids that end with glass beads. She rarely takes them out because she hates how long it takes to braid them again
~ Brown, almond-shaped eyes that look like liquid chocolate
~ She's 5'6" and slends, with strong arms, but they aren't 'blacksmith's arms,'
full lips and a round face, her nose is slightly pointed
Clothing: Traditional skirts and dresses. They tend to be to her knee or lower. Any higher and she considers
them scandalous. Her shoes are leather and she doesn't buy the best so they usually have a hole or something fall apart on
them. She'll often tie or sew bells or ribbons onto her shawls, hems, and front of her shoes to show she's a Player. She also
carries two daggers on her, one under her skirt and another on her upper arm. She was taught how to throw and fight with them
while traveling and she considers them her protection.
Personality: One word could easily describe Lay - over-spoken. She'll butt into conversations she has
no right to be in, but she always seems to need to put in her two-cents. She can't keep her mouth shut. Only when she is playing
is she semi-quiet, she usually sings the words to the song so that the listeners can follow along.
She loves to travel, after traveling with a Player group for seven years. they visited Scanra, Tyra,
and briefly, Carthak. Her favorite seemed to right at home, in Tortall. Since then, she has become a member of the Players
and shows it by sewing bells and ribbons onto her clothing.
Strengths: Playin her fiddle, throwing daggers
Weaknesses: Talkative-ness
History: Layla was born to commoner parents in the small fief of Spring Hill. She loves listening to
the local fiddler play and sing. She would often sneak out of the house and go into inns to hear him. When she was ten, she
learned he was moving on with some Players. He had often seen her watching and asked her parents if she could come with him
as an apprentice. They agreed and Layla began traveling with Wendell, learning to play and sing. The Players all adopted her
into their 'family' and she stayed with them for seven years. She played whenever they stopped for the night, whether it was
for an audience or just for Wendell. At the age of sixteen, she said teary good-byes to her Player family and set out on her
own. At the time, they were on Tortall's most southern shore, after returning form a visit to Carthak that ended rather badly.
It took her a year, with long stops in between, to reach Corus. Now, she rents a small apartment in Lower Corus and plays
at most of the inn.
Likes: her fiddle, ale, singing, both of her families
Dislikes: Carhak - plain and simple
How is your character unique? A fiddler is not a common job for a woman, but Lay seems to have a love
and talent for it.
